I’m Robert Chase, your shiny headed man of mystery, hosting The Morning Trail from 6 - 10 am. It’s great to be in Montana and it’s fantastic to have earned the right to call Missoula my home.

I’m a music freak and I look forward to translating that on a daily basis on The Trail. Growing up in Springfield, IL allowed me to cultivate my love for music by having access on weekends, to both Chicago and St. Louis, where I’d travel to purchase records (yes vinyl) from stores like Peaches and the legendary WaxTrax. Via the isles of those stores I developed a broad appreciation for all kinds of music from jazz, folk, reggae, punk rock and more.

I’ve broadcast in Springfield, IL (1978-1983), Colorado Springs, CO (1984-1990), Grand Rapids, MI (1990-1992), Chicago,IL (1993-2001), and Bozeman, MT (2002-2004). Experiences range from broadcasting the World Cycling Championship in 1986 to traveling and broadcasting from New York City and Detroit the Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam and The Red Hot Chili Peppers tour in 1991. I’ve also had to play messenger to the passing of such greats as John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Frank Sinatra and Frank Zappa among others.

I snowboard and have since 1990. Windsurfing and playin’ a little guitar are interests as well. You may come to recognize my sickness for baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals in particular. I’m also a Denver Broncos fan.

I am committed to helping fund research to find a cure for Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. I was a board member of the Chicago chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Chicago for two years and have since gone on with my family and friends to raise nearly $250,000 for the JDRF since 2000. My daughter Mazzy was diagnosed at twenty months old in April 2000 with type 1 diabetes, and it’s our goal to help fund research and find a cure for this devastating disease. My family initiated the Bozeman Walk for a Cure in 2003 and it’s going strong. We’re very proud of that. I also look forward to helping build support for the Missoula Walk for a Cure, which will be held each spring. Thanks for walking. Thanks for listening!
