We’re one week away from the most anticipated downtown festival of the summer – River City Roots Festival!
Now in it’s 12th year, Roots Fest is not only a great place to enjoy some of the best in Americana, bluegrass and roots music, it’s also jam packed with everything you love about Missoula: exceptional arts and culture, healthy living, sustainability and scrumptious food and drink.
And the best part? Admission is ENTIRELY free!
This year’s festival kicks off with a juried art show featuring nearly three dozen regional artists on Main Street at 11 am Friday, August 25th.
The Family Fun Festival also kicks off at 11 am Friday, with a full lineup of youth performers and activity booths in Caras Park until 5 pm.
Music on the Main Street stage commences at 2:30 pm with Rotgut Whines. Friday’s lineup also includes Taj Weekes & Adowa, Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband and wraps up with headliner John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band.
On Saturday, the activities start at 8:30 am with a four-mile Fun Run/Walk from downtown through the University district, along the riverfront trail and back. The Family Fun Fest and art show pick back up at 10 and 11 am, respectively, and then the Whizpops will kick off the music at 12:30 pm.
Saturday’s music lineup also includes Malcolm Holcombe, Ghost of Paul Revere, The Band of Heathens and then Anders Osborne closes out the festival beginning at 8:30 pm.
And whatever you do, don’t forget about the great local food and drink vendors! All your favorites plus plenty more will be set up keeping you sated and hydrated through the entire weekend. Check out that list
